A Thanksgivi­ng and Pentecost service on Sunday was conducted by Rev Mike Erskine and Rev Dr George Whyte, principal clerk to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and included a number of invited guests to mark the completion of the dry rot refurbishm­ent in the church. An evening service took place at 6pm. On Sunday this week morning worship begins at 11am. During term time the Sunday School welcomes children in the front pews of the church. A creche for under-threes is available during every Sunday morning service. The prayer group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court lounge at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal is every Friday at 6.45pm. New members welcome. The church website www.alythparis­hchurch.org. uk is updated weekly.

Alyth Family History Project is open at Alyth Parish Church on Sundays from 2-4pm. The archive includes thousands of photograph­s of people, events, school, businesses, weddings, bairns, views, etc. Admission is free. Genealogy enquiries are welcome via fhp@alythparis­hchurch.org.uk or Facebook.

Brownies from the past were invited to join the group to mark the occasion.

Jenni Robertson, eastern division commission­er for Perth and Kinross Girlguidin­g, presented Kitty with her 30 years service to Guiding badge.

She also presented Petrina with a special Girlguidin­g Thank You badge for her 25 years of service to guiding.

Both Petrina and Kitty were presented with flowers from Jenni, parents and girls and their young leader Hannah Waugh.

Thanking the girls at the end, Kitty and Petrina both said how much they had enjoyed running the group over the past 25 years.
