Coupar Angus Juniors have secured the services of several players ahead of the new North Division season.

Skipper Allan Leith, young striker Ross Nicholson, forward Alex Gibb, midfielder Joe Sturrock and stopper Martyn McCabe are among those to have re-signed for Logan McConachie’s side so far this pre-season.

Central defender Leith was appointed captain at Foxhall Park last season and continues in the role for 2017/18.

He told the club’s Facebook page: “My first season in Junior football was a great experience for me personally.

“It’s a great honour to be chosen as captain and with the manager making other key signings we should look to moving on up the league.”

Nicholson is ready to kick on again after recovering from an ankle injury against Kinnoull JFC in early April.

He said: “I’m looking forward to playing a bigger part in the team and hoping it’ll be a very successful season.”

Gibb notched an impressive 15 goals in as many games last season.

The 18-year-old revealed: “I want to get a higher tally this year. The manager Logan gave me a platform to play and I always said I’d repay it in goals.

“As a team, I want us to do the best we can. I’ve seen the gaffer’s plans and I’m excited for the season ahead.”

Sturrock admitted: “I’m really happy to sign up again. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop as a player and I’m sure the team will go from strength to strength this season.”

Regular defensive stalwart McCabe enjoyed his time with Coupar Angus last season.

He said: “I strongly believe with a few additions that we can push on this season and finish higher up the league.”

Manager Logan McConachie said he was pleased to get the players signed-up relatively early in pre-season.

Speaking about his skipper, he said: “It’s fantastic to have Allan for the coming season.

“He’s been exceptional this year, both on and off the field – a captain that Coupar Angus JFC are proud to have.”

He continued: “Ross is a young talent and had performed really well towards the end of the season. His injury was unfortunate as he missed the last five games where he would have featured.

McConachie added: “Alex has an old head on his young shoulders and his performances last season were sublime.

“Adding to that, he’s got a character that’s infectious and a desire to win.”

Coupar are up against AM Soccer Club in a pre-season friendly in Fife on July 11.

They host Lewis Utd at home on July 15 and welcome Crossgates Primrose to Foxhall Park on July 22.
