Lemon curd workshop from GrandMaker
Retirement housebuilder McCarthy and Stone is inviting people in Blairgowrie to celebrate the heritage skills older people have at its Darroch Gate development on Thursday, June 22.
Organisers are keen to encourage members of the local community to join staff and homeowners at Darroch Gate on Coupar Angus Road for a special event which will put the spotlight on an accomplished older craftsperson – or ‘GrandMaker’.
Attendees will have the opportunity to pick up a new hobby or interest, or to perfect their own skills, and Rae Wilson from Balfron will be leading a workshop on how to make lemon curd.
The event at Darroch Gate is part of McCarthy and Stone’s 40th year celebrations.
In January, McCarthy and Stone pledged its support for Royal Voluntary Service and the charity’s annual‘GrandFest’event.
Lorraine Paterson, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone in Scotland, said:“It is a privilege to welcome Rae Wilson to our Darroch Gate development for what promises to be a fun and inspiring GrandMaker event.
“The older generation undoubtedly has a wealth of talent and knowledge; and, as part of our 40th year celebrations, we wanted to provide a forum for sharing these skills.
“The masterclass, which will be led by Rae, will provide the perfect opportunity for McCarthy and Stone homeowners and members of the local community to come along and pick-up a new craft, or to brush-up on their own abilities – whatever their age or level of expertise.”
Commenting on her status as a GrandMaker, Rae Wilson said:“I am really looking forward to showcasing my skills at Darroch Gate.
“It is always rather exciting to be in the position of sharing my passion for preserve making with others and, following the success of Royal Voluntary Service’s national GrandFest event in London, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to demonstrate my craft a bit closer to home.”
The event takes place from 12-2pm.
