Parish church Morning service was conducted by Rev Mike Erskine and included the baptism of Nina Ava Paul. Next week morning worship begins at 11am. During term time the Sunday school welcomes children in the front pews of the church. A creche for under-threes is available during every Sunday morning service. The prayer group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court lounge at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal is every Friday at 6.45pm. New members welcome. The church website www.alythparis­hchurch.org.uk is updated weekly. Family History Project Alyth Family History Project is open at Alyth Parish Church on Sundays from 2-4pm. The archive includes thousands of photograph­s of people, events, school, businesses, weddings, bairns, views, etc. Admission is free. \Burrelton

Church Pentecost was the theme of morning worship led by Rev Stevie Thomson. Ruth McLean read from Acts ch 2, v 1-21, and from the Gospel of John, ch 20, v 19 -23. Office-bearers on duty were Ishbel Chambers, Sheena McNaughton and David Martin. Sunday Club was led by Susan Christie. The organist was Lynne Mitchell and flowers were provided by Margaret Alexander. Tea and coffee was served by Moira and Hugh Ormiston. Communion will be celebrated at morning worship on Sunday this week. The retiring collection is for Erskine Hospital. Market on the Green The next market will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 2pm to 5pm. There will be local crafts and produce, a barbecue, home baking and games. Abbey Church The service on Sunday was led by Rev Andy Graham. The choir sang the introit ‘The Lord is my Shepherd’. Bible lessons from Genesis ch 21 v 8 to 21 and Mathew ch 10 v 24 to 39 were read by Irene Henderson. Rev Graham asked the congregati­on to think about how God shapes people’s lives and communitie­s, saying that everyone matters and all are worthy of a place in his kingdom. He also asked them to consider whether they were passing on their faith from one generation to another as God requested. Closing hymns were ‘We have a Gospel to Proclaim’ and ‘Look forward in faith’ with prayers of intercessi­on. Organist Austin Wilkie played ‘Adagio’ by Mozart, ‘Fughetta in A’ by Charles Burney and ‘Prelude and Fugue in G Minor’ by JS Bach. The Bible study group will resume in Spetember. Prayer group continues each Wednesday in the Abbey at 2pm. The Abbey Church fundraisin­g continues at the charity shop in Coupar Angus for two weeks from July 3. Contributi­ons for sale and volunteers to help out in the shop are required. Anyone who wants to help out should add their name to the rota.

\Kinclaven

Church The service on Sunday was led by Rev Peggy Ewart-Roberts with the sermon given by Rev Bill Ewart. The readings from Genesis ch 18 v 1-15 and Romans ch 5 v 1-8 were by Charlotte Laing and Janet Coyle was organist. Rev Peggy was installed as Moderator of Presbytery on Tuesday, June 20, at Caputh Church. Services at Kinclaven are held at 9.45am each week.

SWI President Isobel Buick welcomed everybody to the Lands of Loyal Hotel for the 80th birthday party celebratio­ns and a good time was had by everyone who attended.
