Pupils show sporting talent

Pupils at Kettins Primary School showed off their sporting prowess at the east Perthshire school’s annual sports afternoon recently.

Pupils, staff, parents and grandparen­ts all enjoyed the fun and games which saw youngsters taking part in various races including the sack race, running races, skipping races and a potato and spoon race.

There was also a house relay race, javelin, shot putt and bean bag throwing.

Excitement levels were high as the three house teams battled it out for points, with the winners, Pitcur, announced at the school’s prize-giving.

And a team of thirteen of the school’s primary five to seven pupils competed in the annual Blairgowri­e cluster athletics event, with Kettins pupils coming in the top three of over half of the 24 events,

Eight pupils then went on to represent the school at the Perth and Kinross Schools County Sports championsh­ips, held in the George Duncan Athletics Arena in Perth.

The event is the culminatio­n of qualifying events scattered across the school year and is one of the highlights of the calendar for the area’s active young people.

Head teacher at Kettins, Joanna Robertson, praised the pupils for their efforts and for representi­ng the school with great enthusiasm, and congratula­ted them on their achievemen­ts.
