Pupils’ achievements recognised at service
Trophies handed out
Newhill Primary School pupils were presented with trophies marking their achievements at a special ceremony on the last day of term last week.
Parents and grandparents of pupils at the school joined the youngsters in Blairgowrie Parish Church for the end of term service and prize-giving, which also featured a performance of Bugsy Malone from the primary 7 pupils.
This year the trophies for running and for boys’ football, as well as the Friendship Cup, the academic cup and the achievement cup, were all won by Newton and presented to house captains Archie Thomson and Kayla Scott and vice-captain Sarah Lamond.
Marlee took home the silverware for the girls’ dodgeball, girls’ netball, mixed netball, tug o’war and sports day. House captains Hannah Airth and Grace Anderson collected the trophies on behalf of their fellow pupils.
Newton and Marlee also shared the honours the Blair Oliphant Award for Excellence.
The boys’ dodgeball trophy was presented to Alfie Meager and Esther Douglas, house captains of Ardblair, while the girls’ football trophy, which was won by Lansdowne, was presented to house captains Sarah Mackenzie and Brett Davie.
Lansdowne also won the trophy for hockey.
Victoria Ritchie and Emma Ritchie, representing the school’s mixed netball team, were presented with the shield for winning the Perth and Kinross league this year.
The Blairgowrie Civic Trust Award for the P7 scrapbook was won by Chloe Duncan, who was celebrating her 12th birthday, and was presented by head teacher at the school Mrs Fiona Patton.
Pupils in primary 7 were also presented with their new high school ties by the parent council.
