Honour for Boys’ Brigade member
Callum Stewart from 2nd Blairgowrie Boys’ Brigade Company was among eighty-four Boys’Brigade members to have been awarded the Queen’s Badge at a special presentation ceremony in Blairgowrie Parish Church last month.
The young people from Perth and Kinross, Stirlingshire, Dundee and Angus, Fife and Falkirk, were presented with the Boys’Brigade’s highest recognition by Lord Lieutenant Brigadier Melville Jameson.
A variety of skills and objectives were achieved in order for the young people to receive the certificate, including a combined total of 7,158 hours spent volunteering.
Provost Dennis Malloy of Perth and Kinross Council, Alistair Burrow, Brigade Vice President and Alan Hunter, Training and Development Officer at the BB all attended the presentation.
This year 470 young people from across Scotland have completed the award which aims to challenge and equip the individual, provide new opportunities and expand horizons while remaining accessible to young people of all abilities.
The Queen’s Badge offers the chance to engage with the local community, take on responsibility, set personal goals, build self-confidence and experience a sense of achievement. For more information about The Boys’Brigade in Blairgowrie area, please email 2blairbb@tiscali.co.uk
