Lottery booster

-

Alyth Hill Users Group (AHUG) has been awarded nearly £1400 from the Big Lottery Fund to help develop the group’s children’s bike club.

Funding of £1,398 for the group was announced last week.

The money will go towards the cost of training new volunteers and providing more advanced training for existing volunteers.

Norman West from AHUG welcomed the news.

He said:“AHUG Bike Club has grown massively in a short time and now regularly sees around 70 kids riding mountain bikes every week.

“The club’s growth is now limited by the number of trained adult volunteers required to coach the kids and ensure their safety.

“Thanks to the Big Lottery grant we will be able to train more of the volunteers we have and fulfil the demand for places in the club.”

AHUG is one of 500 groups Scotlandwide that benefitted from over £3.8 million in National Lottery funds.

The community-based cash boost comes from National Lottery Awards for All Scotland which makes grants from £500 to £10,000 with funds raised by the National Lottery to community, arts and sports groups on behalf of Big Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and sportscotland.
