Next stop nature
Children in east Perthshire have been learning about endangered species, thanks to a visiting education bus.
The double-decker Wild About Scotland bus is travelling up and down the country, giving children a chance to learn about protecting local habitats and about the environment around them. One of the schools it stopped off at was Coupar Angus.
The children who visited the conservation bus were about to learn about Scotland’s native species and their habitats, as well as about the country’s biodiversity.
They were able to take part in activities such as mini-beast hunts, building beaver dams, planting tree saplings and learning about specific projects such as protecting the Scottish wildcat and the reintroduction of beavers.
Barbara Smith from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland said:“Our mobile education bus has had a huge impact across Scotland and it is wonderful that we can bring wildlife education right to people’s doorsteps, inspiring the next generation of conservationists.”
