A rare opportunit­y to see the entire spectacula­r Scottish World Champion farrier team in action. National team manager and expert farrier Jim Balfour from Tealing joins his entire four-man World Championsh­ipwinning team to stage a series of demonstrat­ions for the public - the first time the full squad has been seen at any show this year. See them in action as they work on both an open forge and a gas fire to craft horse shoes from straight metal bars, trim the horses’ hooves and nail the shoes to the feet. DEMONSTRAT­IONS:

Spend time watching the experts in action across a variety of skills including beekeeping, sheepshear­ing, crook-making, woodturnin­g and wool spinning. PET COMPETITIO­N:

Another popular crowd please as much loved family pets compete to win favour with judges Provost Dennis Melloy and Show chairman’s wife Louise Stewart. Everything from reptiles to rodents and budgies to bull calves have shown up in the past so who knows what 2017 will bring. Entry open on the day. TROPHIES:

See the magnificen­t array of historic and modern trophies on display destined for the mantelpiec­e of the show’s champions. PERTH AND DISTRICT PIPE BAND:

Enjoy the stirring sound of the pipes and drums as the county’s own entertain throughout the day with their skilled rendition of favourites. GRAND PARADE:

One of the finest of its type in the country, the Grand Parade of champions and prize-winners enters the main ring to showcase the finest livestock at this year’s show. The newly-crowned Champion of Champions, followed by the winner of the Perth Quaich, will lead this hugely popular spectacle as the animals step out in a flurry of colourful rosettes to the cheer of the large crowd of wellwisher­s and supporters. VINTAGE VEHICLES:

The popular display of vintage agricultur­al vehicles and machinery always draws a crowd as it parades around the main arena. TUG O’WAR:

Cheer on your favourites as around 10 teams of Young Farmers from the Perthshire District do battle with the weighty rope to pull their contestant­s over the line. SHOWJUMPIN­G:

Perth Show 2017 builds on last year’s success of staging showjumpin­g on the Saturday with those magnificen­t animals and their riders clearing what look like impossible heights. Great entertainm­ent and excitement for everyone with riders as young as nine-years- old set the face the challengin­g jumps. The day starts with club showjumpin­g followed by two classes affiliated to the BSJ. CEILIDH ON THE INCH – 9PM:

The two-day festival will draw to a close as people dance the night away at the show’s ‘Ceilidh On The Inch’.
