Trophy time for leading Coupar Angus gardeners
The winners of the gardens competition in Coupar Angus were presented with their trophies at a special ceremony in the council chambers in the Town Hall last week.
The horticultural competition was organised by the town’s community council and Forward Coupar Angus.
Judges Pauline Macaskill and Anne Barrie were“very impressed”with the exceptional standard of planting, wonderfully colourful displays and original ideas.
The prize for school-age child went to Ramsay Scott. Bob Christie at Ellerslie Gardens won first prize for window boxes, second in the Scottish flower garden category and third prize for tubs and pots.
Colin Dargie won second prize for his hanging baskets and Hamish Lamond won first prize for his Scottish flower garden, second prize for vegetables and fourth prize for hanging and wall baskets.
The Caddam Road Community Garden won first prize in the vegetable section and the Crichton Lang Court residents’group won first prize for hanging baskets.
Linda Cameron won the unusual garden category once again.
Chair of Coupar Angus and Bendochy Community Council, Wendy McCombes, presented the awards. She congratulated the winners on their efforts and thanked Val Kidd and John Easson for organising the competition.
Val added:“A big thanks goes to everyone who entered and hopefully we will get even more entries next year. Thanks also to the judges, to John Easson for organising the certificates and trophies, Wendy for presenting the awards and the community council for hosting the presentation.”
