Coupar boss aims for top half finish in division

-

Coupar Angus manager Logan McConachie has sent out a warning to those who believe his side will be brushed off easily this season.

And the Foxhall Park boss insists his men are prepared to nail down a top half finish in the North Division.

Saturday’s 2-2 draw with high-flying Luncarty provided evidence that Coupar are a force to be reckoned with this term.

Goals from Alex Gibb and Stuart Banks had them two goals to the good, before a late visiting comeback resulted in a share of the spoils.

McConachie said: “The game was on a knife edge from the off, with plenty chances going a begging and we were doing well to get the upper hand.

“It was frustrating for everyone to lose the lead because they had put so much effort in.

“I think we sat back too deep and tried to see the game out. But to be fair to Luncarty they probably deserved the equaliser.

“Jon Kelly’s experience for Luncarty changed the game.

“He did really well after coming off the bench and caused us a fair few issues.

“It was a good learning experience for our young centre half.

“But if anyone thinks that Coupar are here to be the whipping boys or sit lowly down the league, then they’ve got another think coming.

“We’ll keep battling and will be in the top half soon enough.”

Coupar are at home on Saturday, again against Luncarty, but this time in the GA Cup. Kickoff at Foxhall Park is 2.30pm.
