Proctors staff pick SCAA as their charity of the year

- Clare Damodaran

Staff from Blairgowriebased construction solutions company Proctors have voted to support Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) as their charity partner for the year ahead.

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance respond to time-critical medical emergencies and can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes.

As an east Perthshire business working across the world, the technologysavvy team at Proctors say they are proud to have a lifesaving charity based on their doorstep, serving not only their community but the whole of Scotland.

And Proctor Group staff have made a strong, if bruising, start to their fundraising with a team of eight surviving the famous 15km obstacle race, Rough Runner, and raising over £1300 for the charity in the process.

Proctor Group managing director, Keira Proctor, is delighted to get behind the team’s fundraising efforts and gave each of the rough runners a day off to recuperate.

She said: “We expect that this relationship with SCAA will see increases in motivation and personal development from the team as the organised fundraising gives staff autonomy about how they are making decisions.

“Importantly for the Proctor Group it helps with innovation too as staff will have to think outside the box to come up with what they are going to do to raise funds for this charity, which relies entirely on the people and companies of Scotland for their funding.

“We are a large employer in the area and it’s great to see staff proud to share the story of SCAA with their personal networks. It brings work and home life closer together in a really positive way.”

Helen MacGregor, regional fundraising manager with SCAA, welcomed the support from the firm.

She said: “We were delighted to hear that 78% of the voting staff wanted to support SCAA – what wonderful evidence that SCAA is at the forefront of people’s minds.

“The ongoing commitment of companies is vital to our future so we are delighted to have the backing, not only of an industry leader, but of a large and local employer.

“We can’t wait to see what great ideas this pioneering group come up with!”
