speakers - Christine, Paul and Ivy from the Blairgowri­e and Rattray Time Bank - gave an interestin­g talk on how the Time Bank operates with people sharing their skills to help each other. Several members were interested in joining. Competitio­n results: triple layered sandwich - 1 Evelyn Kincaid, 2 Lesley Evans, 3 Heather McFarlane; funny photograph with caption - 1 Sheena Donald, 2 Janice Shepherd, 3 Ella Neill; flower of the month - Evelyn Kincaid. The next meeting is Tuesday, October 3 at 7.15pm with a talk on recycling awareness. Competitio­ns will be a recycled article in any craft, three savoury biscuits and flower of the month. All welcome.

Silvie and Ruthven: President Joy Reid welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the new session, and after the business was discussed Jackie McCowan presented Madge McCowan with a crystal decanter for the most overall points at Alyth Show. Joy then introduced Andy Patterson from Errol who gave an excellent slide show and talk about TV Times in the bygone years which brought back lots of old memories. Hostess for the evening was Evelyn Nicoll. Competitio­n results: two oven scones - 1 Madge McCowan, 2 Dorothy Anderson, 3 Margaret Bruce; a reflection­s photo - 1 Joy Reid, 2 Evelyn Nicoll, 3 Isabel Smith; flower of the month 1 Joy Reid, 2 Isabel Smith, 3 Evelyn Nicoll.

*** Blairgowri­e Scottish Country Dance Club: The club restarts this Wednesday, September 27, in Blairgowri­e Town Hall at 7.30pm and hopes to see all existing members as well as new members for the new session. The club ended the last year on a high celebratin­g its 70th anniversar­y and the committee hopes that the impetus will be maintained. To remind members, the AGM takes place immediatel­y before the dancing on October 4. For further details telephone 01250 873272.
