Catriona takes short cut to raising cash

- Ross Gardiner

An Alyth youngster is about to face the chop for the Little Princess Trust.

Catriona Skea (9) is attempting to raise money by having her long locks cut off at Top Knots hairdresser in Blair- gowrie on Thursday.

Proud mum Amy said she was impressed not only by Catriona’s kind-heartedness but also her enthusiasm to have her hair cut – a decision she made off her own back.

She said: “Catriona came up with the idea herself. Her hair is really long and curly and we’d been toying with the idea of getting it cut anyway before she suggested getting it cut really short.

“We looked into donating it when one of her friends did it and Catriona’s hair was just long enough to donate.

“She is so excited to get it cut. She’s just totally hyper.

“She really wants to go and see whoever it is that gets her hair but obviously we’ll not know who gets it.”

The Little Princess Trust makes wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment. As well as the hair it needs £500 to cover the cost of making the wigs, around £80 of which has already been raised.

Amy added she was delighted to see Catriona’s school friends being so supportive.

“She’s got a JustGiving page and she’s taken her collection box to school and all her friends have donated their pocket money.”
