Strathmore Screen back with two popular films

The latest offerings from the Strathmore Screen community cinema will be shown at Blairgowri­e Town Hall on Sunday, October 29.

First on the bill this month is The Jungle Bunch (U) at 4pm.

Ths is the first big screen adventure for the stars of the popular animated television series of the same name and sees the Jungle Bunch on a mission to save their jungle home from an evil koala and his gang of baboons.

It is up to Maurice, a tiger-striped kung-fu penguin and his friends to save the day against the most dangerous enemy they have encountere­d.

The evening film for October is Victoria and Abdul (PG) at 7pm.

Victoria and Abdul is a biographic­al comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Frears and written by Lee Hall.

It is based on the book of same name by Shrabani Basu, and on the real-life relationsh­ip between Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and her Indian Muslim servant Abdul Karim.

An unofficial sequel to the 1997 film Mrs Brown, it stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Michael Gambon, Eddie Izzard, Tim Pigott-Smith - in hi s last film role and Adeel Akhtar.

Tickets for both films are on sale now from Mitchell’s Newsagents on Blairgowri­e High Street and Calute, priced £6.50 for adults, £5.50 for concession­s and £5 for children.

Family tickets - for one adult and up to three children or two adults and two children - are also available and cost £21.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to each film.

Refreshmen­ts and home baking are available.
