ART AWARDS

- Clare Damodaran

Kirkmichael Session House held two art workshops for the local primary school at the beginning of the autumn term.

The workshops enabled pupils at the school to take part in the Anne Exley Art Awards competition which was held during Perthshire Open Studios week.

The theme for this year’s competition was a Pictish Longhouse.

Using ice cream and peach containers covered with mod-roc as the base for their creative models, the children painted them, added rough textured materials and fake moss.

Local councillor for Blairgowrie and Glens, Bob Brawn, presented the prizes at the school.

The winner of the competition this year was Amber Hood, with Logan Wilkinson in second place and Freya Mullin in third.

All the winners received art vouchers and Amber, who also won the competition in 2015, received a trophy as well.

The Session House would like to thank Keith Exley for continuing to support the competition and congratulated all the children on their efforts, especially Amber who is the first person to have won the competition twice.

All the models are on display in the Session House on Main Street, Kirkmichael.

Everyone is welcome to visit and view their work.

The Session House is open on Mondays from 1pm to 4pm and Wednesdays from 9am to 4pm. Telephone 01250 881770.
