Kidnap charge

A man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend then abandoning her in a lay-by in the middle of winter is to face trial in December after denying the charge.

Brendan Patrick Kiernan Comiskey (34), of Church Place, Coupar Angus, pled not guilty to abducting his former partner on January 2 this year dur ing a br ief appearance at Perth Sheriff Court last week.

He denies he detained the woman against her will by failing to let the woman out of his car when she wanted and then demanding she get out after he had stopped in a lay-by on the A93 somewhere between Rattray and Spittal of Glenshee.

The charge he denies further alleges he then drove off leaving the woman in a location unknow n to her whilst “inadequately dressed for the weather conditions” and that he also grabbed her, kicked her and hit her with a handbag.

Comiskey’s bail was continued.
