Blairgowrie ladies top of their league

- Sports reporter

The Blairgowrie ladies hockey team continued their success at their last match, held on October 21, with a win against St Andrews Uni 3.

The team travelled to Fife and were delighted to return home with a 1-0 win.

After a slow start with the Blair team not putting in their best performance, Katy Alexander lifted spirits when she managed to bypass the St Andrews goalkeeper in the second quarter of the match to score.

St Andrews came back fighting however, and Blair goalkeeper Cara Davidson had to pull off some great saves to retain a clean sheet, with Sylvia Donaldson also assisting with some well-timed clearances at the back post.

Although Blairgowrie played better in the second half of the match, the ladies were unable to score again and the whistle blew at 1-0.

The team remain undefeated this season and currently sit at the top of the Midlands League Division 1.

The next match is scheduled to take place this Saturday, November 4, against Brechin in Arbroath.
