Fall-out over firework noise

- Brian Smith, Blairgowrie

I’m writing to moan about somebody in the Perth Road/Smithfield Crescent area who thoughtlessly fired off several very loud firework rockets at about 11pm on Sunday, November 5.

Several of my neighbours were woken up by the bangs and complained, with one commenting that she thought her windows were coming in.

Another person in Golf Course Road also heard the fireworks, which woke her up and upset her pet.

Further, several large sticks and spent firework bodies were found in the morning lying in gardens, paths and roads close by. These were considered large enough to damage cars or hurt passersby.

Whilst few would complain about letting off fireworks in back gardens, surely any person who thinks they are decent neighbours would give consideration to those living close by over timing, size of fireworks, volume of noise and fall-out of debris.

If people want to have a firework display I would recommend that they support and attend the town show in Davie Park which, thanks to the efforts of Morag Young this year, was extremely successful and fully enjoyed by the many people who were there and didn’t upset any neighbours.
