Threequel fails to thrill

The law of diminishing returns hits the popular animated franchise as not even the Minions can save this lazy third outing.

A doppelganger-led storyline does lead to Steve Carell providing twice the fun.

But an overload of subplots fail to engage and the energy so prevalent in previous entries is sorely lacking. When word leaked of a TV take on the cult sci-fi-western mashup, many eyes were rolled.

However, Westworld not only rates as one of last year’s finest shows, but one of the best in decades. To go too much into the plot would risk giving away a multitude of thrilling twists and turns, performed by a terrific cast.
