Art fest organisers’ thanks

- Dear Editor, Dear Editor, The Committee, Rattray Art Festival Irene Robertson Alyth Family History Project

The Alyth Family History Project has now closed for the winter, and will re-open in Alyth Parish Church on Easter Sunday.

However, we will still be working in the background captioning the hundreds of photos in our ‘pending’ file, so feel free to email any enquiries or submit new photos by emailing fhp@ alythparishchurch.org.uk or via The recent twoday Rattray Art Festival raised £1519.20 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).

The committee are most grateful to artists who donated 20% of any sales and for the donations received.

They would also like to thank the Rattray Hall committee and local sponsors whose help enabled this annual event to take place.

This year it was just one of the events in the new week-long festival, It’s BRAW! which our Facebook page, AlythFHP.

This is our eighth year and like every other there have been some amazing coincidences, some incredible photographs, and some extremely grateful visitors who have found longlost relatives.

Our fundraising exhibition in September was testament to the value this archive brings to the community far and wide. This alone is reason to keep going with this mammoth project! If you would like to get included courses in art and crafts, concerts, plays and the second Really Interesting Experience in involved next year, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Of course, like any voluntary activity we could not survive without help and my sincere thanks go to the volunteers who helped at this year’s photo exhibition and also to Ken and Zoa who man the project Sunday by Sunday, week in, week out during the open season, and without whose help the archive would not be what it is today.

Finally, I thought I would Blairgowrie Town Hall. Yours sincerely, share one of my favourite photographs from the archive (see above).

The Newton family and friends are pictured at the Leroch in 1890s. The Newtons lived at the Leroch from 1890 and their sons were there until 1966. A fantastic addition to our archive!

Kind regards,
