St Andrew’s Day celebrations
Music, singing and dancing at popular venue
Volunteers and regulars at the Friendship Cafe in Rattray marked St Andrew’s Day last week with music, singing and dancing.
Aly Muir is one of the volunteers behind the popular weekly cafe.
He said: “It was another great morning and it is so good to see everyone up dancing or singing. It is just brilliant.
“It’s a credit to the team of volunteers that we have here that our regulars come along and enjoy themselves in the community every week. It is a valuable service that we provide here.”
But Aly added: “None of us are getting any younger and we would really appreciate any help anyone can give us.
“We need help in the kitchen, serving teas and coffees or even just putting out the chairs before the cafe.
“Everyone has a lovely time here and the cafe is really growing. We have around 70 regular guests every week.
“The more volunteers we have, the less work there is for everyone to do and folk can have a break every now and again.
“This cafe really makes a difference to older people in the town. It helps to address loneliness issues and helping out is an opportunity for people to do something positive for the community.”
The Friendship Cafe meets every Thursday morning in Rattray Church Hall.
