Read all about it: Book Week Scotland fun
Book lovers across east Perthshire marked Book Week Scotland last week.
Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November.
People of all ages and walks of life got together to share and enjoy books and their love of reading in libraries, schools and community venues.
And across the country Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators got involved in a packed programme of events and projects.
On Wednesday last week Blairgowrie Library hosted a free event with broadcaster and writer, Theresa Talbot, as part of their Book Week Scotland celebrations.
And pupils at east Perthshire schools were also involved in various initiatives marking the event.
Story teller Daniel Serridge visited pupils at Kettins, Meigle, Burrelton and Kirkmichael primary schools during the week.
And at Meigle and Kettins primary schools there was a range of activities throughout the week designed to encourage a love of books and reading.
These included taking photographs of themselves, friends or family reading in weird and wonderful ways and places - with prizes for the most inventive - and encouraging parents to come in and read to the children at the beginning or end of the school day.
Children, staff, parents and carers and friends of the school were also set a challenge to write a short paragraph about their favourite character from a children’s book.
During the week, the school bell rang at various intervals and everyone in the school had to stop what they were doing and read for ten minutes.
And on Thursday last week pupils at Kettins Primary School enjoyed a nonuniform day where they dressed up as a character from their favourite book.
Joanna Robertson is the head teacher at Kettins Primary School and acting head at Meigle Primary School.
She said:“We celebrate Book Week Scotland every year and always enjoy it.
“It is good that it is a week-long celebration of culture and language and that all aspects of reading, writing and literature are covered.”
