Burrelton and Woodside The Christmas party was held at the Burrelton Park Hotel where members enjoyed an excellent meal. Afterwards there was entertainm­ent by Margaret Gordon. Those gathered were given a few items about which they had to make up a story before voting on the best story. There was also a quiz. Glenisla President Hilary Lawrence welcomed members and friends to the December meeting where she introduced Rachel Houstoun who gave an enthusiast­ic talk and vibrant demonstrat­ion on Christmas floral art. Betty Grant proposed a vote of thanks. Competitio­ns: Christmas tree decoration - 1 Jackie Hardy, 2 Kathleen Davidson; flower of the month - Hilary Lawrence. Kilry Kilry SWI would like to thank everyone who attended the Christmas lunch at Strathmore Golf Centre, adding that a lovely time was had by all.

Competitio­ns: small Christmas decoration - 1 Margaret Darroch, 2 Pat Donaldson, 3 Janey Mcfarlane. The group would also like to thank everyone who participat­ed in the quiz, the winner of the £10 voucher was Graeme Pyott. Rattray President Muriel Brown welcomed all to the December meeting of Rattray and District SWI. The committee hosted the Christmas celebratio­ns – cake and carols - which also coincided with the Institute’s 89th birthday. A birthday cake was cut by the oldest and youngest members, Margaret Black and Katy Scott. Muriel read two poems to remind all of the true meaning of Christmas. Greer and Fiona demonstrat­ed how to make a fabric, origami Christmas decoration, and the members made one too. After a Christmas quiz compiled by Mary all enjoyed cake and shortbread. Members contribute­d cash to a Secret Santa to be divided between Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance and Alzheimer Scotland. Competitio­ns: Christmas stocking tree decoration - 1 Kathleen McCormick. Linda Retson, national chairman and Rattray member, thanked the committee for providing an enjoyable evening for the members. All joined in a selection of Christmas songs and carols before Muriel wished everyone a happy Christmas and New Year and a safe journey home. The next meeting of Rattray SWI is next Monday, January 15 at Rattray Halls on Balmoral Road. 7pm for 7.15pm start. It will be a Highland Fling games night with stovies and oatcakes. Competitio­ns - three shortbread fingers, knitted wrist warmers (given pattern) and flower of the month.
