Bur­rel­ton and Wood­side The Christ­mas party was held at the Bur­rel­ton Park Ho­tel where mem­bers en­joyed an ex­cel­lent meal. Af­ter­wards there was en­ter­tain­ment by Mar­garet Gor­don. Those gath­ered were given a few items about which they had to make up a story be­fore vot­ing on the best story. There was also a quiz. Glenisla Pres­i­dent Hi­lary Lawrence wel­comed mem­bers and friends to the De­cem­ber meet­ing where she in­tro­duced Rachel Hous­toun who gave an en­thu­si­as­tic talk and vi­brant demon­stra­tion on Christ­mas flo­ral art. Betty Grant pro­posed a vote of thanks. Com­pe­ti­tions: Christ­mas tree dec­o­ra­tion - 1 Jackie Hardy, 2 Kath­leen David­son; flower of the month - Hi­lary Lawrence. Kilry Kilry SWI would like to thank ev­ery­one who at­tended the Christ­mas lunch at Strath­more Golf Cen­tre, adding that a lovely time was had by all.

Com­pe­ti­tions: small Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tion - 1 Mar­garet Dar­roch, 2 Pat Don­ald­son, 3 Janey Mcfar­lane. The group would also like to thank ev­ery­one who par­tic­i­pated in the quiz, the win­ner of the £10 voucher was Graeme Py­ott. Rat­tray Pres­i­dent Muriel Brown wel­comed all to the De­cem­ber meet­ing of Rat­tray and District SWI. The com­mit­tee hosted the Christ­mas cel­e­bra­tions – cake and car­ols - which also co­in­cided with the In­sti­tute’s 89th birthday. A birthday cake was cut by the old­est and youngest mem­bers, Mar­garet Black and Katy Scott. Muriel read two po­ems to re­mind all of the true mean­ing of Christ­mas. Greer and Fiona demon­strated how to make a fab­ric, origami Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tion, and the mem­bers made one too. After a Christ­mas quiz com­piled by Mary all en­joyed cake and short­bread. Mem­bers con­trib­uted cash to a Se­cret Santa to be di­vided be­tween Scot­land’s Char­ity Air Am­bu­lance and Alzheimer Scot­land. Com­pe­ti­tions: Christ­mas stock­ing tree dec­o­ra­tion - 1 Kath­leen McCormick. Linda Ret­son, national chair­man and Rat­tray mem­ber, thanked the com­mit­tee for pro­vid­ing an en­joy­able evening for the mem­bers. All joined in a se­lec­tion of Christ­mas songs and car­ols be­fore Muriel wished ev­ery­one a happy Christ­mas and New Year and a safe jour­ney home. The next meet­ing of Rat­tray SWI is next Mon­day, Jan­uary 15 at Rat­tray Halls on Bal­moral Road. 7pm for 7.15pm start. It will be a High­land Fling games night with stovies and oat­cakes. Com­pe­ti­tions - three short­bread fin­gers, knit­ted wrist warm­ers (given pat­tern) and flower of the month.
