Ceremony

ON Wednesday, March 6, Galashiels Academy held the 2024 Wider Achievement Ceremony.

The ceremony is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our wonderful students who do so much within the school and in the wider community.

Past pupil Sara Green was our special guest for the evening and gave a most entertaining and inspiring speech.

Sara is a teacher and an accomplished athlete, and is currently the Scottish women’s marathon champion and Master’s national cross country 5k, 10k, 10 mile and marathon champion, among many other achievements.

It was wonderful for our pupils to hear about the importance of perseverance and seizing opportunities as they arise.

Well done to everyone who made this such a fantastic evening of celebrating achievement in school and the community.

We are so proud of you all!

Cross Country

THE school would like to say congratulations to the athletes who travelled to the Scottish Schools Cross Country at Hopetoun House recently.

Everyone worked tremendously hard throughout their respective races, with Isla Patterson coming second in her last Scottish Schools run.

Building update

THE new school building has some exciting updates this week.

The steel frame is finished and the floors are covered and 80 per cent concreted.

The sports hall walls have been started, including some insulation sheets and all staircases are in.

In the next months the roof will go on, the walls will be completed and it will be watertight.

We can then start on the two lifts and this will allow materials to be transported upstairs.
