REIVERS MEN V FALKIRK AND LINLITHGOW 3S
The Reivers men, co-captained by Jack Sewell and Kieran Douglas, ventured to Linlithgow Academy with a youthful side to face Falkirk 3s in their penultimate league game. On a sunny, windy afternoon, Reivers started brightly and scored the opener after the first five minutes from a penalty corner, well taken by Oliver Tomlinson with a flick on goal which he placed well into the bottom right corner. In the second quarter, Falkirk fought back with an equaliser which came from a penalty
corner. Before half time, Reivers regained the lead after good work down the left hand side ended in a scrappy affair which Reivers’ Keiran Douglas came out on top of and slotted it past the keeper. With the Reivers’ heads held high and the determination to get a well-deserved three points, they went on to secure the game with lovely short passing play down the middle into the circle, ending with an unselfish pass from Fraser Banks who put Keiran Douglas in on goal for Reivers’ third and his second of the day.
REIVERS LADIES 4S 4-2 BERWICK LADIES
The Reivers Ladies were up for their game against Berwick who were sitting second top in the league.
Berwick came out the blocks fast, catching the Reivers Ladies on the back foot. w
And within 10 minutes the home team found themselves 2-0 down and in an unenviable position.
A refocus at the end of the first quarter saw the Reivers squad regroup.
The team became more confident and some searching balls through the Berwick press frequently found the strikers – Miya McLean, Olivia Whitehead, Rubi Lee, Evie Allison and Nicola Thomson – in space. After a good run from Abi Burns, who linked well with Carolyn Allison, a corner was awarded to the Reivers team which was slotted away by Janet Jack. A further goal also came from a wellworked corner when Jack found Olivia Whitehead on the post to make it 2-2 at half time.
The second half saw the Reivers players have much more possession of the ball and a territorial advantage. Further goals came from great build up play through Millie Stenhouse and Skye Straker and a cross from the right was swept in to the roof of the net by Rubi Lee.
In the final quarter, great fluid passing down the left through Kaia Shuttleworth and Carolyn Allison, saw a shot on goal saved, but Evie Allison collected on the rebound and flicked it in to the net.
A great result for the Ladies 4s, sitting fourth in the league with three games still to play.
