SWI

The Lauder SWI meeting was held on Tuesday 12th March. Reverend Lynn Brady talked us through her life from 16 years old when she left school. She was clearly a real asset to the groups she worked with then. And when she wanted to join the ministry, she undertook an access course to ensure she had access to university to study for six years. She told us about the wide variety of work she had undertaken in many parts of the World including Pakistan, Malawi and Zambia as well as Scotland, in Fife, and Shetland. Covid lockdown began shortly after her arrival in the northernmost islands of Shetland so she had to live without her possessions for several months. She talked of the excitement of travelling by ferries and car between her church services, and the difficult work she had been involved in ensuring sale of many church buildings no longer needed. Island life was full of unique experiences.

The group listened with great interest and fascination about her life and work and she was thanked by Carol Patterson for giving such an interesting talk. The competition of holiday photographs was won by Annette Houlton with Wendy Bryson second and Elizabeth Stevenson third.

Our April meeting is on Tuesday 9th in the Scout Hall at 2pm, when Lou Washington will be talking about honey bees. All are welcome to join us.
