ATTEMPTED MURDER

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman has been remanded in custody after being accused of attempted murder in the Kelso area.

Daria Dabrowski, who gave an address in Carlisle, is charged with assault to severe injury, permanent impairment and attempted murder.

She made no plea during a private hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

The case was continued for further examinatio­n and she is due to appear in court again this week at Jedburgh.

SPAT AT OFFICERS

REPORTS have been ordered into a Peebles woman who admitted spitting at police officers.

Twenty-six-year-old Beth Burns pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to striking a glass door and damaging it at Glentress on April 30 last year.

Shortly afterwards, on the A72, she assaulted a female police constable by kicking her on the body and spitting on her.

At Borders General Hospital, Burns assaulted two male police officers by spitting on them.

She was then taken to Hawick Police Station, where she kicked a female constable on the body.

Sheriff Peter Paterson highlighte­d the offences of spitting at police officers, especially at Borders General Hospital.

He told Burns: “I hope you appreciate these are serious matters.”

Sentence was deferred until April 29 for the production of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restrictio­n of Liberty Order assessment.

CURFEW

A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been placed on a night-time curfew for the next nine months at his home in McLagan Drive, Hawick.

Bruce Turnbull pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to shouting and swearing, acting in an aggressive manner, uttering threats of violence and refusing to leave premises in the Borders on November 18 when requested to do so.

He also admitted assaulting two males during the same incident.

Turnbull must stay in his home between the hours of 7pm and 7am and a Non-Harassment Order was also imposed, keeping him away from his former partner for one year.

SUPERVISIO­N

TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Tyra Blake, from Galashiels, pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to two counts of police assault and also behaving in a threatenin­g or abusive manner.

She was given a one-year Community Pay Back Order with supervisio­n.

TRIAL DATE

A 46-YEAR-OLD man has been accused of exposing himself and carrying out a sex act in front of five children under 13 years of age in a Borders park.

Elroy McArthur pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing a child to be present while engaging in sexual activity.

The offence is alleged to have been committed in Victoria Park, Innerleith­en, on June 25 last year.

McArthur, formerly of Holylee Pheasant Farm, near Walkerburn, but who gave an address care of an Edinburgh hotel, will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on July 9.

SUPPLY CHARGE

A GALASHIELS woman who admitted being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug has had sentence deferred for the preparatio­n of a Drug Treatment and Testing Order.

Forty-six-year-old Lisa Wilson pleaded guilty to the offence at Selkirk Sheriff Court, which was told she had been manipulate­d by others who had taken advantage of her vulnerabil­ity.

The court also heard that £180 in cash found in her home was confiscate­d under Proceeds of Crime.

Sheriff Peter Paterson said the order would last two years.

He added: “It is an unusual step rather than a custodial sentence which normally would follow for a supply charge.”

REPORTS

BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a 59-year-old man who admitted breaking into a house in Stow and stealing a quantity of jewellery.

Gordon Williamson, from Dalkeith, targeted the property in Galashiels Road on December 5, along with another person.

He also attempted to break into another property in Galashiels Road with intention to steal.

Sheriff Peter Paterson told Williamson that, due to his previous conviction­s, he would “realise how perilous his situation was”.

Sentence was deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until April 29.

DRIVING CHARGE

A 21-YEAR-OLD motorist has been accused of causing severe injury by dangerous driving.

It follows an incident on an unclassifi­ed road near the A72 at Blyth Bridge in Peeblesshi­re last year.

Adam Lewis, from Dolphinton, appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court, where he made no plea to the charge.

The case was continued for further examinatio­n and he was released on bail.

DOMESTIC OFFENCE

A GALASHIELS man who admitted a domestic abuse offence has been placed on supervisio­n for the next 12 months as part of a Community Pay Back Order.

Colin Poole, 58, was also fined £150 at Selkirk Sheriff Court for breaching his bail conditions.

A Non-Harassment Order for one year was also imposed.

KNIFE OFFENCE

A TEENAGER has admitted being in possession of a knife at Galashiels Transport Interchang­e and also at Borders College.

Nineteen-year-old Andrew Kay, who gave an address in Ashkirk, also admitted being in possession of an offensive weapon, namely a metal spanner, at both locations on November 21.

A not guilty plea to a third charge of threatenin­g or abusive behaviour was accepted by the Crown.

Sentence was deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court for reports.

UNPAID WORK

COREY Turner, who is 29, has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work at Selkirk Sheriff Court as an alternativ­e to custody after admitting assaulting a neighbour to his injury by butting him and punching him to the head in Forest Crescent, Galashiels, on January 13.

The court heard Turner “overreacte­d” to a “trivial comment” made by his neighbour.

TRIAL

THIRTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Jasmine Lauder, from Galashiels, pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft by shopliftin­g at Selkirk Sheriff Court and a trial date was set for July 9.

MESSAGE CHARGE

A SELKIRK man faces trial at the town’s sheriff court on a charge of sending abusive messages.

Twenty-three-year-old Lawri Edwards had a trial date fixed for July 18.

DOMESTIC CHARGE

A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been ordered to stay away from a property in the Borders and also a named woman.

Stuart Douglas, who gave an address in Edinburgh, pleaded not guilty to a domestic abuse charge involving severe injury.

A trial has been set for May 30 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

ASSAULT CHARGES

SIXTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Douglas Glendinnin­g, from Peebles, denies two counts of assault to injury and also obstructin­g police and will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on April 16.

TRIAL DATES

THIRTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD Bryan Drum, from Galashiels, denies a charge of assault to injury and permanent disfigurem­ent and will face trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on April 18.

PATRICK Loyden, who is 55 and formerly of Hawick but who gave an address in Edinburgh, denies a theft charge and will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on July 11.

TWENTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD Hughie Hutchison, from Eyemouth, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being concerned with a controlled drug and had a trial date set for July 9 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

MICHAEL Reid, who is 30 and from Hawick, denies directing a sexual communicat­ion towards a child he believed to be over 13 but under 16.

A trial is due to take place at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on April 11.

SIXTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Joseph Wilkinson, also known as Finnnigan, from Broughton, denies charges of threatenin­g or abusive behaviour, assault and assault to injury and will face trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on July 23.
