EUROPEAN TOUR

-

MARAUDING Morecambe featherweight Isaac Lowe, 13-0-1 (5), will attempt to add European honours to his Commonwealth crown when he travels to Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark for his first pro fight on foreign soil. The “Westgate Warrior” challenges local favourite Dennis Ceylan, 18-01 (8), on Saturday (March 18), with Team Sauerland promoting.

Ceylan – a technically proficient 2012 Danish Olympian – won the vacant EBU strap last time out in October, when he pipped Isaac’s fellow Brit, Ryan Walsh, on a split decision. If all is above board with the judges, Lowe can cause the upset on points by landing with more regularity and tenacity than his taller opponent.

Over in Germany on the same night, Russia-born German and former two-time WBO super-middleweight title-holder Robert Stieglitz, 50-5-1 (29), [inset] should retain his European light-heavyweight belt on the scorecards against fellow veteran Nikola Sjekloca,

32-4 (11) – a Serbian-montenegrin who has previously challenged for the WBO 168lb crown. On the Stieglitz-sjekloca undercard at the Arena Leipzig (SES Sports Events promote), there is a meeting between two heavyweights who have both failed drug tests in the past. Germany’s Erkan Teper, 16-1 (10), suffered a split verdict reverse to Christian Hammer in his most recent bout in October, but he can overcome giant Pole and ex-world title contestant Mariusz Wach, 32-2 (17), via decision. Another heavyweight collision takes place on the same evening in Malmo, Sweden, as hometowner Adrian Granat, 14-0 (13), steps up in class over 12 against former EBU boss Alexander Dimitrenko,

39-3 (25), on an EC Boxpromotion event at Baltiska Hallen. Both men are huge heavies, but their careers are heading in different trajectories. With Russiangerman Dimitrenko’s last two losses coming by way of KO, heavy-handed prospect Granat can add to this tally.
