NOWHERE TO HYDE

Rudan is demolished inside two rounds by savage Sam

- Andy Whittle

SALE cruiser Sam Hyde needed less than four minutes of his scheduled eight-rounder to destroy Croatian visitor Tomislav Rudan at Bowlers Exhibition Centre. Two knockdowns from the Ensley Bingham-trained puncher early in the second session proved the visitor’s undoing; the first from a right hook to the head, and the second from a measured left to the body which sent the Croat to all fours for the duration of Darren Sarginson’s count with just 50 seconds of the round gone.

There was an early finish too in the bout which pitted Manchester’s Anthony Leak in against Bulgarian Georgi Valevski who, dropped to one knee in the opener by a spiteful left to the body, was always destined not to hear the final bell. The increasingly under fire Valevski had a point deducted by Mr Sarginson for persistent holding early in the third, and the end came just 50 seconds into that session with Georgi having risen shakily after being decked a second time.

Manchester-based Dutchman

Stephen Danyo earned the 58-56 decision of John Latham at the end of a watchable six against Atherton’s William Warburton.

A pair of four-threes ended 40-36 in favour of the home boxers. Salford’s Matty Mainwaring impressed against Bolton’s experienced Chris Jenkinson, while another locally based fighter, Lithuanian

Mindaugas Baublys, triumphed over game Latvian novice

Maksims Dembovskis. Mr Latham refereed the first bout, and scored the second for trainee official Jamie Kirkpatrick.

Trialist Kirkpatrick called an early halt in the third of a scheduled four between Manchester’s Michael Gomez Jnr and Hungarian Ignac Kassai. Just 45 seconds of the round remained when Kassai, just risen having been dropped in centre ring, came under renewed fire.

Accrington’s Artif Ali took the 59-56 verdict of Mr Sarginson at the conclusion of a six against Latvia’s Dmitrijs Gutmans.

THE VERDICT A more-thandecent offering from novice promoter James Lindemann.
