CHISORAHELENIUS II

SATURDAY March 25, 2017

AFTER missing out on a rematch with Dillian Whyte, Dereck Chisora settles for taking on another old rival who pipped him in a controversial decision - Robert Helenius.

Chisora, 33, will return to the scene of the crime - Helsinki’s Hartwall Arena - which saw some dodgy scoring gift Helenius a split decision ‘victory’ in 2011.

‘’Chisora is a good fighter and I’m expecting a tough fight, but I’m very confident I will win,’’ says Helenius, also 33. ‘’Before our first match, I injured my right shoulder and had to fight for 12 rounds with just one arm. If I was able to beat him with one arm, I don’t see any problems beating him when I have two. I believe I am ready, and after I beat Chisora, I will be in a good position to challenge for the world title.’’

The contest is for the spurious WBC silver title, but it will edge the winner further up the rankings.

“We had a lot of fun last time, and everyone knows who really won that fight,” states Chisora. “He can make all the excuses he wants, but that won’t help him on May 27.

Chisora’s is yet to win a 12-rounder on foreign soil, having also been outscored by Vitali Klitschko in a tilt for the full WBC title in 2011, and also in Germany, Kubrat Pulev in a 2016 European title fight.
