THE FIGHT HAD IT ALL
WHAT a fight! A match of similarities and contrasts. Two courteous gentlemen out of the ring, magnificently sculpted, both in body and mind. West against East, youth against experience. With both warriors rising from knockdowns, this display of infinite courage was a classic for the ages, and a most fitting testament to skill, passion and absolute dedication. The fight had it all. Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko was an inspiration. Gavin Littaur, Hendon
OOZING CLASS
THE epic Anthony Joshua-wladimir Klitschko fight was one of the greatest nights of heavyweight boxing ever witnessed in the UK, and around the world. It was a historic occasion to see these two great fighters handle themselves with sheer class throughout. Joshua came to fight, which actually brought the greatness out in Klitschko, so we saw Wladimir at his best and most dangerous. Joshua proved his stamina in getting up off the floor and taking control of the pace again. He also showed a true champion’s instinct by stopping his opponent. In triumph for Joshua and defeat for Klitschko, they both oozed class. Ray Fox, Keighley
NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN
FOR no better reason than a good young one usually beats a good old one, I was confident that Anthony Joshua would beat Wladimir Klitschko. However, when Joshua hit the floor, my early confidence was ebbing away.
The 11th round will live long in the memory, as will the fight itself. On this never-to-be-forgotten night, my thought process and emotions had gone full circle, for in the end, age – aided by a mighty right uppercut – was probably the deciding factor that split the two warriors. ALIVE AND KICKING
WOW. Just wow. The heavyweight division is alive and awake from its slumber.
I thought Wladimir Klitschko may know too much for Anthony Joshua, and for a while that was how it looked. Joshua needed to dig deep and pull out a Hail Mary punch. That’s exactly what he did in the championship rounds. Fair play to him for that.
Fair play also to Wladimir for producing his best – albeit losing – performance in years. If he continues – and there’s nothing to suggest he’s finished – then there are still a lot of heavyweights he could beat.
After 10 rounds I had Wlad ahead. I can’t see how two judges had Joshua winning the fight at this stage. Anyway, here’s hoping Joshua and Klitschko do it again. Paul Wickes, Holt
