GOOD KNIGHT
A DENNIS HOBSON promotion went ahead at the Premier Banqueting Suite, comprising of three four-round contests, all of which ran their allotted distance. Registering a shutout 40-36 victory was Hull’s Tom Knight who, having been beaten early in his two previous outings, bested veteran Stourbridge battler Kevin Mccauley.
In another clash refereed by Lee Innes and scored by John Latham, there was a debut for local lad Denzil Browne Jnr, whose father challenged for the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles in the 1990s. Denzil’s baptism came against Remigijus Ziausys, a resilient Lithuanian with 100 previous bouts. With the visitor having only been defeated inside schedule twice before, it was no real surprise that Browne emerged a points winner. The scorecard read 40-36.
The evening’s third contest ended just a little closer, with Leeds’ Billy Pickles earning a 39-37 decision from referee Latham at the conclusion of a feisty encounter against Sheffield man Nathan Hardy.
