Gethin Jenkins will take over as England Boxing chief executive

ENGLAND Boxing has been appointed Gethin Jenkins as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), taking over from Paul Porter. He will be responsibl­e for all operationa­l aspects of the organisati­on’s work including managing and directing the strategy of the sport and ensuring the delivery of England Boxing’s plan for 2017-21. Jenkins has held similar roles at both Cardiff City Football Club and Newport

Gwent Dragons Rugby Union Club. He was Head of Event Delivery for the organising committee of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Caspar Hobbs, Chairman of England Boxing said, “Gethin has a superb blend of skills and experience and was the outstandin­g candidate for this very important position. He has a proven track record of leading a sporting organisati­on, delivering major events and generating commercial income and I am confident he will make a significan­t contributi­on to the future developmen­t of boxing in England.”

Jenkins added, “Boxing has been very successful in recent years in delivering both increased participat­ion at the grassroots and elite level success and I want to help the sport and England Boxing to build on these achievemen­ts and the opportunit­ies the sport offers including developing the promotion, governance, and planning across all aspects of England Boxing.

“Boxing clubs are the heart of this organisati­on and I look forward to working with members to ensure they get the support they need to continue growing the sport, and in doing this, delivering enormous benefits to people and communitie­s throughout England.”
