HAYE’S NEW ARMY

-

WEDNESDAY July 12, 2017 AS he recovers from injury, David Haye - who hopes to be be back in the ring in November or December - unveils a line up of new signings for Hayemaker-ringstar, his joint promotional venture with Richard Schaefer.

They are Olympic superheavyweight silver medallist Joe Joyce, Rio 2016 Olympian Qais Ashfaq, who will box at superbantamweight, World Youth gold medallist, Scottish middleweight Willie Hutchison and mixed martial artist Michael “Venom” Page.

Page spoke of his sparring sessions with super-middles James Degale and Chris Eubank Jnr.

“He threw a bit of a hissy fit after not getting his way,” Page says of Eubank Jnr. “My style’s very awkward. To be fair any boxer if they took the time to go through the annoying stage at the beginning, for my type of style, you’d find me out later in the round. Because of the movement, the angles that I hit people from, the length I hit people from, he didn’t enjoy himself. He kind of just blew up at the end so I ended up leaving.”

Page and co will train at the Hayemaker Gym with Haye’s new trainer, Ismael Salas. Dave will broadcast the first show, pencilled in for September.
