TARGET ACHIEVED FOR BRANDON BOXING CLUB

A new premises and a first champion, writes Alex Oliver

-

OUR club formed in January 2013. Since then we have grown quite significantly with 20 carded boxers and 10 coaches together with over 100 members.

In December 2014 I started contacting people with regard to obtaining our own premises and eventually put a bid in to Sport England. We were the only successful bid in the north of England. It meant that we would get our own gym built and work is now underway.

As my daughter is disabled (Kara-mai has Down Syndrome and autism) we do a great deal with her school and provide classes for disabled children among the eight sessions we currently run a week.

We have just finished the season with our first ever gold medal for England as Megan Bainbridge won the Tri-nations on her England Debut. She didn’t stop there, going on to take gold at the Hull Box Cup and Monkstown Box cup too. A fitting way to announce our new club venture.
