BYFIELD MAKES NOISE

-

FRIDAY September 8, 2017

RISING super-welterweight Asinia Byfield reveals that he engaged in a heated sparring session with Floyd Mayweather’s starlet Gervonta Davis during a summer training stint in Las Vegas.

Byfield, from Reading, spent two weeks in Sin City with manager Mickey Helliet and managed to talk himself into a ring session with Davis, then preparing for his IBF super-feather title defence on the August 26 Mayweather v Conor Mcgregor undercard (Davis came in overweight and was stripped).

“I made a lot of noise and they got fed up of my mouth. They were queuing up to spar me. So I did eight rounds with Gervonta and then a ninth that went on for around 20 minutes,” Byfield tells BN contributor Matt Bozeat.

“I got through it and at the end still felt strong, but Gervonta was fading and Floyd wasn’t happy! He stormed out of the gym.”
