THE PLAN IS COMING TOGETHER

Even the haters are starting to realise exactly what I’m about

- Chris Eubank Jnr Super-middle contender

AT the beginning of my career a lot of people thought it was a gimmick and I was just copying my dad, they thought I would have a couple of fights and then leave. Now people know I’m serious and I’ve won the majority of boxing fans over. Obviously I will always have a contingent of people who don’t like me but that’s fine, I accept that.

With this World Boxing Super Series tournament coming up, it can only help to convert the haters. Wins, belts, titles, you can’t argue with that so this tournament will help me to bring some of the doubters to the other side.

If I could choose between being loved or hated I’d be loved. But I’ve come to accept the fact that some people will never be on my side. It doesn’t bother me. All I have to do is keep winning and performing and the real boxing fans will be won over. Those who don’t then it’s obviously not about my boxing, it’s about me. And if people want to sit on their keyboards and get angry about me, at least they’re still talking about me.

I take boxing seriously, it’s my life. It’s discipline. I have always been one to live a healthy lifestyle. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs or binge eat. I am as healthy as I can be.

This body has to last me, if I abuse it and do things I am not supposed to it can take years off my career, years I could be making big money or having great fights, adding to my legacy.

That’s always on my mind, I don’t want to be out of shape, I am always in the gym, constantly training. At super-middleweight I don’t have to starve myself. What makes fighters blow up is weeks of eating c**p and all the rest of it.

I used to watch cookery shows while cutting weight, but now it’s just Game of Thrones. As a middleweight I was watching Man vs Food every day while I was eating my plain porridge.

I enjoyed my time in Las Vegas recently at Floyd Mayweather’s gym and in the future I’d like to train out there, not for whole camps, just for periods of time. It’s a great facility there, it’s a great city to be a fighter, as long as you don’t get caught up in the distractions then it’s a great place to box.

Two weeks before the Conor Mcgregor fight I watched Mayweather walk out of his strip club at 5am, it’s surreal, it’s like ‘Jesus’, and then the next week he’s at a pool party. He’s not drinking and he’s got his section up at the top and he’s just chilling but who does that? Well, Floyd does that.

Everybody is different and it’s good for him obviously because it works for him. But then you have kids who are looking at that and thinking “Oh I can do that, I can go to the club and party and do whatever I want and then fight”. And you just can’t. You just can’t. With Mayweather, I can pretty much guarantee you that lifestyle wasn’t how he got to where he is.

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? I’m happy at home for now. Look at the success I’ve had in my boxing career, having this as my base, having my team as my base. So if it’s worked for this long, until it stops working I can’t really see why I would change it. And it confuses me when people say, ‘Oh, you need to get rid of your dad’. Well, if I was to start losing or if I start not getting paid well, then fair enough. But everything is on track, I’m in a perfect position. I’ve got got three amazing fights coming up, good amount of money coming in, training is right, facilities are right, mindset is right. So for now, Team Eubank is everything I need.

IF PEOPLE WANT TO GET ANGRY ABOUT ME, AT LEAST THEY’RE STILL TALKING ABOUT ME
