WHAT DID YOU MAKE OF ANTHONY JOSHUA’S PERFORMANCE AGAINST CARLOS TAKAM?

-

Glenn Mccrory Former IBF cruiser champ He was slightly disappointing. I thought he would have controlled more against a 12-day substitute but he struggled to get his jab going and loaded up too much before he began to relax. I’ve always said he’s a work in progress.

Tommy Martin Ex-english 140lb titlist To be honest, I think Joshua took his eye off the ball in training. He didn’t look 100 per cent in there. I think he thought Takam would be a lot more easier of a fight than it was. He came in too heavy.

Anthony Farnell Leading trainer Not great, to be honest. After four rounds Joshua was blowing. He put on too much muscle. Joshua was definitely going to win, but the fight shouldn’t have been stopped when it was – why not stop it earlier when Takam was cut?

Kieran Farrell Busy promoter He did what he had to do. He boxed well. People forget he’s still a relative novice with only 20 fights, even though he is world champion. He’s still learning on the job. Perhaps he was a bit too big but he has to keep his cardio up.
