The NABGC finals conclude
THE 2017 National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Boxing Championships have concluded.
In Ben Rees the quality Birtley boxing club have produced yet another champion. Rees stepped up from middleweight, where he competed in the quarterfinals of the England Boxing Elite championships earlier this year. Rees defeated Harwich’s Pat Allan Cripps in the 81kgs Class D final.
Essex University middleweight Lewis Richardson completed a busy end to the year. He was disappointed in the GB championships but made sure of a championship title when he beat Triumph’s Bradley Goldsmith in the 75kgs final.
A national Elite championship semi-finalist this year, Hunslet’s
Ismail Khan took a Class D title, even if he was forced to settle for a walkover in his 56kgs final.
In the Class C finals Danielle Allsop made some history for St. John’s amateur boxing club in Chorlton when she unanimously outscored North Allerton’s
Catherine Pringle at 69kgs. Allsop’s club coach Andy Rea said, “Danielle works very hard and deserves her success. We hope that this will be the first of many national titles for Danielle. She certainly has the potential. She has had to beat many good boxers to win this title, including some who were already winners of national titles.”
Chadwell St.mary’s, which underwent extensive fundraising to save the club this year have a champion to take pride in in
Karol Itauma, who beat Redcar’s Benjamin Jarvis in the Class C 81kgs final. In the Class D superheavyweight final Mehran Khan,
of Hamer, overcame Horsley Hill’s Dennis Sparkes. RESULTS:
