WALLACE IS A WINNER
Romario victorious at Repton’s 13-bout open show
REPTON staged the last London show of 2017 with an open promotion at East Ham Working Men’s Club, when 13 bouts featured boxers from as far afield as Middlesbrough, Blackpool and Bradford. The host’s powerfully built welterweight Romario Wallace, who won gold at June’s Haringey Box Cup, was a split but fully deserved points winner over Jordan Mcintosh. Wallace constantly beat the Double Jab boxer to the punch with left hooks and right crosses and although Mcintosh never stopped trying, he finished well beaten.
George Barker, a 15-year-old junior, is the latest member of the famous fighting family to wear the green and gold colours. Watched by grandfather Terry (1980 ABA lightdefeat fly champion) and uncle Darren 2002 Commonwealth Games 63.5 kgs gold medallist and pro IBF middleweight king), George boxed smartly for a unanimous win over Attleborough’s Devon Lockwood.
Repton will have a show again at the same venue on Saturday January 13.
