PRIME MIKE TYSON vs PRIME LENNOX LEWIS – WHAT WOULD HAPPEN?

-

James Tillis The same thing that happened 16 years ago. Mike’s record in the ‘80s speaks for itself. He was knocking ‘em out left and right. But Lennox has always been centered in his mindset and ring generalship. I saw that even back in 1988 when he won Olympic gold. Steve Cunningham I’d have to go with prime Mike. I don’t think many beat prime Mike. Prime Mike ate shots and gave back devastating blows. Lennox would’ve performed well, landed shots and gone the distance, but he would have lost. Then there would be a rematch and Lennox, king of the rematches, would get his revenge. Rendall Munroe I don’t really do the prime thing as I feel everyone has an era for a reason. But I feel it would be a fight people would still be talking about today. World-class boxer vs worldclass fighter. The outcome would be hard to call, but I’d say Tyson by late stoppage or on points. Spencer Fearon Peak Tyson beat a frightened but great lightheavyweight [Michael Spinks] in ’88. But Lewis was a bigger and better boxer than [Bonecrusher] Smith and [Tony] Tucker, who both went to points with Tyson. Lewis hit harder. I’ve got the Lewis of the [Frans] Botha, [David] Tua and [Michael] Grant fights beating Tyson on points.
