A FEAST OF BOXING
Tommy Dix reports on the latest Golden Gloves bill
ON Golden Gloves’ March 8 show, Bletchley ABC’S Ali Chowdry showed good movement and precise punching to beat Lowe House ABC’S
Luke Griffiths. Luke did have his moments but took two standing counts in the last round.
Deva Police’s Lewis White got the verdict over Golden Gloves’ Genadij
Krajevski in a barnstorming bout. Lewis relied on his jab and whereas Genadij forced the action, favouring hooks to the head and body. Golden Gloves talented southpaw
Harry Evans outpointed Love Boxing ABC’S James Jaques in a skillful contest that was a delight for the purist. Evans just had the overall edge over a top-class boxer who had a lot to offer with fine jabbing and combinations. Harry showed wonderful defensive skills plus a great variety of punches to gain the verdict.
Another cracker saw Stockbridge ABC’S Jak Corrie gaining the nod over Golden Gloves’ Femi Abdul
Azeez. Femi was on the attack from the start, trying to bob and weave his way in to land big shots in. Corrie chose to use his jab and combinations to offset Femi’s assault. This bout had the crowd on its feet when both went for broke in the exchanges. It was a fitting end to a great night’s boxing.
