THE PREDICTIONS
We make our picks on who will win the five main fights on the card
★★★★ BELLEW-HAYE
IF – and it is a big if – Haye’s 37-year-old body can hold up after the many injuries it has endured over the years, the pick is for the veteran to grow into the fight and break through against a cagey Bellew at some point in the second half of proceedings.
★★★★ BUTLER-RODRIGUEZ
BUTLER will be competitive in an intriguing duel, but Rodriguez looks like a top fighter in the making. It could well go the full 12 rounds, with Rodriguez taking the verdict, although the likelier outcome is for his power to tell late on against a tiring Butler.
★★★ THOMAS-JOYCE
DESPITE there being a handful of poor results on his record, in addition to a relatively low percentage of KO/ stoppage wins, Thomas is a polished boxer. However, this won’t be enough to prevent another inside-schedule success for the unrelenting Joyce.
★★★ WARD-TENNYSON
HAVING steadily progressed through the levels, Ward is now maturing into a wellrounded technician. Tennyson can dig, but Ward is savvy enough to avoid the heavy artillery. His accuracy and volume can see him force Tennyson out before the final bell.
★★★★ RYDER-COX
THIS is a devilishly difficult one to call, as the pair are very well matched. After 36 minutes of back-and-forth action, featuring some fierce and entertaining exchanges, Ryder’s superior shot selection can earn him a merited victory on the scorecards.
