Leading figures in fight game expected at Awards in November

AFTER a hiatus of four years, the British Boxing Board of Control Southern Area Awards will return on November 29 with an award ceremony in London’s Grange City Hotel.

Richard Barber said, “It will showcase all that is good in the Southern Area and many awards will be given out to recipients of such as the Ernie Fossey Award for The Best Young Boxer, The Dean Powell Memorial Trophy, which will be awarded on the night to a surprised recipient, the Best Supporting Boxer Award and many more surprise awards.”

The event will begin with a reception at 6.30pm, with a threecours­e meal set to follow at 7.30pm. As well as the awards, there will be a comedian and live music. Already, several leading figures in the boxing world have confirmed their attendance.

Tickets are offered to the public on a first-come, first-served basis and cost £75 (the same as they were in 2014).
