JOE GALLAGHER ACADEMY

New academy to be launched in Manchester to help and train young boxers

-

LEADING British trainer and manager Joe Gallagher this week launched The Joe Gallagher Academy, a new academy for 16-19-year-olds in association with Learning Point. The aim is to create and develop new talent while offering a chance to youngsters who may otherwise struggle to fulfil their potential in life.

Gallagher, alongside his stable of boxers, will conduct regular classes with the male and female teenagers though the full-time training duties will be fulfilled by designated coaches. The students will train every morning while studying to gain a BTEC in Sport in the afternoons.

Gallagher, the orchestrator of this project, will act as the Academy’s Director of Performance and devise Personal Performance Plans for each student

“I can’t believe this is all becoming a reality,” Gallagher stated. “I’ve always wanted to get to this point in my life where I can really make a difference to some young people who may not always get a lot of opportunities in life.

“I was lucky enough to have found boxing, in Moss Side ABC back in the 80s, and even luckier to have certain people around me to guide me and teach me so much, not just in boxing, but in life. Now is the time for me to help pass on my knowledge and guidance to support the next generation.” Locations for the Academy include the Factory Zone in Harpurhey and Woodhouse Lifestyle Centre in Wythenshawe, though members of the new academy will also be invited for special training sessions in the Costa Del Sol.
