LAWAL LOOKS GOOD

Development boxers impress early on in championships

- Daniel Herbert

SHERIFDEEN LAWAL of St Pancras impressed beating Stonebridge southpaw Jordan Pedro in the London quarter-finals of the Development championships at Tottenham Community Sports Centre.

Lawal attacked throughout this Class B middleweight bout and piled up points with his right hand, although curiously his win was only via majority decision.

In the same class and at the same weight, West Ham’s Deniss

Dagilis eliminated Albie Warner (Repton) on a split that was entirely understandable, given how well contested this gruelling affair was. A warning for holding in round two didn’t help Warner’s cause.

A whopping 17-strong entry at welterweight in Class A (under 10 bouts) meant quite a few boxers had to perform at the same venue on the Friday night (September 21) then box again the following afternoon. One such, Fight For Peace’s Dylan Oke [inset], was too good for tall Gerald Dinnegan (Left Hook), bloodying his nose in the first and giving him a count from a left hook in the last en route to a unanimous victory.

In a Class A 69 kgs last 16 bout, Repton southpaw Elijah Inegbenebho made good use of his long arms to outbox Kyle Joseph-paevie (New City) and drop him for a win that was clearer than the official 4-1 split.

Ashley Simpson from the Haringey club next door finished strongly to edge Isaac Adelakun (New City) in a close Class A superheavy battle. RESULTS
