HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT AN UNDERSIZED MIKEY GARCIA CHALLENGING ERROL SPENCE JNR?
Ryan Walsh
British champion
Mikey clearly believes in his ability. I’m a big fan. He’s nailed the boxing fundamentals, and, with his skill-set, I think it’s possible he wins. Spence, though, is a monster welterweight and southpaw. If Mikey pulls it off, he’ll be the pound-for-pound king in my eyes.
Miles Shinkwin
Light-heavy contender
I think you can only commend Garcia for taking the leap, although Spence has only really boxed a weight-drained Kell Brook. If he’s as good as they say, then the old ‘good big ’un beats a good little ’un’ theory might apply here.
Chris Mckenna
Boxing journalist
I’d rather see Garcia-vasyl Lomachenko and Spence againstterence Crawford, but, because of politics, those fights are unlikely. It is a big ask for Garcia as Spence will be huge in comparison. I’d prefer fighters dominate their own division, but I will be excited to see it.
Deion Jumah
Cruiserweight prospect
I admire Mikey’s courage but it’s a step too far for me. Spence is a big welterweight and Mikey looks small in comparison to his opponents at lightweight. Of course it’s a fight I’ll watch, but I see nothing more than Errol breaking Mikey down for a shutout victory.
