FORMERLY ‘one to watch’, Brandon Daord returned after almost four years out with a commanding display against Lithuania’s Marius Vysniauskas, on this well-attended VIP Promotions show at Liverpool’s Olympia.

Daord was too clever for the visitor who failed to throw anything in return after shipping a number of shots when referee Darren Sarginson stepped in with 2:43 gone.

The opener on what should have been a 10-fight card (Bryan Collins’ contest fell through after his opponent failed to appear) saw Nigeria’s Taiwo Agbaje win 60-54 on Mr Sarginson’s card against Aragon-based Mexican,

Christian Lopez Flores, in a solid, if unspectacular, run out.

The first of seven debutants to feature, Darlington’s Ben Marksby showed variation to head and body against experienced Ghanaian,

Benjamin Lamptey, and he won 40-36 on referee Jamie Kirkpatrick’s card.

Former Gemina ABC star, Jake Harrison, gave an exciting and dominant display against fellow debutant, Kieran Mcaffehanson. Southpaw Harrison’s backhand dropped the visitor halfway through the first but, showing good composure, he remained focused to win handily 40-35. Mr Sarginson refereed.

Mr Sarginson also scored efficient and focused local, Ryan Dickens, a 40-36 winner over Driffield’s Danny Little.

Despite working hard near the end, James Mccarthy was well worth his 39-37 win against Cameroon’s experienced, Serge Ambomo. Mr Kirkpatrick refereed.

Mr Kirkpatrick also adjudged

Liam Moon a 40-36 winner over Lithuanian, Simas Volosinas, who was having his 100th pro contest.

Hurt in the first, Birkenhead’s

Ben Burnham did well to score a sensational win over Greece’s

Grigoris Nikolopoulos in the fight of the night. Shortly after dropping the visitor for eight, the end, courtesy of a flurry of heavy shots to the head, came at 2:59. Mr Sarginson refereed.

In an entertaining fight, Mr Kirkpatrick scored Chester FC’S, Paddy Lacey, a 40-36 winner over game Croatian, Stanko Jermelic.
